Martha Ruth Hill Whatley

I left KHS to work in marketing at Georgia Power Company. Little did I know that I'd have five different jobs with GPC over a 30 year span and get to stay right here in the Columbus area! The River Center, a TOTAL ELECTRIC facility, was my swan song in 2000 when I retired as a senior commercial marketing rep.
I'm now active as a museum docent (along with J. Gosha who taught German back when...), and I have chaired the boards of Girls Inc., St. Luke ELC, and HEIB. I'm also involved with DAR, the Ambassadors (our GPC retiree organization), and St. Luke School Board---not to mention keeping up with a wonderful football-crazed husband (War Eagle) and seven equally marvelous grandchildren!
...and I garden!

Moved up with our students from Eastway (now Rothschild Jr. High) with Ralph Toole, principal. Taught home economics and 9th grade science (next door to Coach Gilstrap!) until May, 1970.
I remember Art Williams asking me to sponsor a Biscuit Club to keep the football boys "out of trouble"---his words. I can't remember how successful we were, but I do remember the fantastic football seasons. What a marvelous, fun faculty we had! I still get to see many of those talented folks---love meeting former students too, but I can't believe they are OLD now!
