Phillip Scarbrough

US Army until 1973 including Veitnam; Married in '73, tried to go to college but I wasn't ready. Worked in Food Service until 1996. Had 4 children current ages range from 37 to 17. Started studing the Bible in 1980. Dedicated my life to Jehovah in 1981, been serving Him since. Woke up one day went back to school. Graduated in 2000 and started teaching that year. Love it, love my special ed kids. Love life, love people, love my family. Miss all of you.

As most of you probably know, I quit school in my senior year to join the Army. I had great plans to marry but I needed a job and at 17 it seemed logical. Mrs. Ward, Mr. Paul, Miss Squires and others begged me not too but I did. I was in LOVE. Sheila broke up with me in 3 or 4 weeks after I joined. I got my GED during Basic Training at Ft. Benning.
I had great times at school. I remember Typing class and how much I hated it. I think I skipped 1/2 a year. One day in Mr. Paul's class we were watching a video. He fell asleep and the class got up and walked out the next class came in and he slept through half of it. I did play in a band with Steve Hill and Jeff and Mike and Steve. We weren't too bad for a bunch of kids. Had a blast with all of them.
Does anyone remember going to Flat Rock Park as a class or am I dreaming?

Ft. Benning!! Ft. Jackson, Gordon, Germany, Veitnam, Ft. Riley KS. Did lots of stuff. In Veitnam I encryped communications for the 1/4 Cav. S. Koreans and Cambodians. It was fun, but stressful at times. I was an acting E-5 and we were supposed to leave our unit and all the equipment because of TET and get to Long Binn. Well the CO left me in charge with 10 other young kids to hold out until the S. Veitnamese could replace us. They never showed. I don't remember much after that. When I came back from Veitnam I was a changed person. Its hard to explain, but I was different. Will write more later!
